Since 1985, Rayglass Boats have been recognized as leading designers and manufacturers of high-quality, award-winning power boats. Our reputation for excellence in design, construction and performance is the result of a total commitment by everyone at Rayglass to producing world class vessels of the highest standard.
Our Story - So far
1987
- Rayglass was founded by Tony and Vicki Hembrow in Pakuranga.
- Production began on the first ever Rayglass Boat - the sports cruiser 670.
1988
- Rayglass’s Sportsman 670 came next - a boat built especially for fishermen.
1989
- Rayglass added a centre console edition of the Sportsman 670.
1990
- Rayglass 470 was released.
1991
- The first Legend was released - The Rayglass Legend 620
1992
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 520 and 520R
1993
- The Rayglass Legend 620 was chosen as the official boat of choice by the NZ Coastguard
1995
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 730. The largest production trailer boat in NZ at the time
1996
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 730 'Targa'. The first production hardtop trailer boat in NZ
1997
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 730 (enclosed hardtop)
1998
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 850. The 850 superseded the 730 as the largest production trailer boat in NZ at the time.
1999
- Release of the Rayglass Protector 850. A purpose built vessel for Coastguard NZ
2000
- Release of the Rayglass Protector 750 centre console
2000
- Rayglass built a one off 60ft Protector for Emirates Team NZ - at the time the largest RIB built worldwide
2000
- Rayglass was selected as the official supplier to the Louis Vuitton and Americas Cup in Auckland
2001
- Release of the Rayglass Protector 11 STD Cabin and Centre Console
2002
- Release of the Rayglass Protector 12.5m Cabin XL. The first inflatable launch in the world
2002
- Release of the Rayglass Protector 12.5m centre console
2003
- Rayglass was selected as the official supplier to the Louis Vuitton and Americas Cup in Auckland
2003
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 2150 which replaced the Legend 650
2004
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 1950 which replaced the Legend 620
2005
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 2300

- Release of the Rayglass Legend 4000
2006
- Rayglass moved into their new state of the art manufacturing premises at Mt Wellington, Auckland
2006
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 2500 which replaced the Legend 730
2007
- Release of the Rayglass Legend 2800 which replaced the Legend 850
2007
- Rayglass was selected as the official supplier to the Louis Vuitton and Americas Cup in Valencia
- Over 100 Protectors were shipped to Valencia for the event

- Release of the Rayglass Protector 310 & 330 Targa
2010
- Release of the Rayglass Protector 380 & 410 Targa

- Release of the Rayglass Protector Projet

- Release of the Rayglass Legend 2350

- Rayglass was selected as the official supplier to Emirates Team NZ for the Louis Vuitton & Americas Cup in san Francisco
2016
- Release of the Rayglass 3500 sedan cruiser
2017
- Rayglass was selected as the official supplier to Emirates Team NZ for the Louis Vuitton & Americas Cup in Bermuda
2018
- Release of the 2nd generation Rayglass Protector 250, 310 & 330 Chase
2018
- Rayglass were chosen as the official Chase boat Suppliers to the Sail GP
2019
- Release of the 2nd generation Rayglass Protector 380 & 410 Chase
2019
- Release of the 2nd generation Rayglass Protector 310 & 330 Targa
2019
- Rayglass won the tender 24 Protectors for a special collaboration between NZ Coastguard and the America's Cup. The boats will be used as support boats for the America's Cup regattas, before being passed on to the New Zealand Coastguard to be fitted out and used as patrol vessels nationwide.
2020
- Release of the 2nd generation Rayglass Protector 380 & 410 Targa
2021
- Rayglass Protector selected as the official chase boat for the 36th America's Cup
2021
- The first of 26 ex America's Cup Protectors are refitted for Coastguard New Zealand
2022
- Release of the Protector 410 Targa fitted with twin V12 600hp outboards.
2022
- Rayglass Boats becomes the official dealer for Boston Whaler in New Zealand
2023
- Release of the Protector 330 Targa fitted with twin V10 outboards
