When we developed the Protector concept, we aimed for toughness and capability above all. But over time, to suit the market, we’ve added touches of luxury and the ability to customise almost every inch of our vessels.
We recently built a custom Protector Targa 380 for our European dealer Ancasta, for a client to use as a superyacht tender in the Mediterranean. This vessel is the perfect example of our brand evolution.
Lyndsay Turner, Protector’s International Sales & Marketing Manager, says it’s easy to see why the Protector 380 Targa is so popular among superyacht owners:
“It’s one of our larger boats. A big marine moored or dry stacked, big volume vessel. It services all utilitarian needs, whether a commuter for a holiday island, superyacht tender, or a police or coast guard vessel. It’s great for moving lots of guests around, and this boat is extremely powerful which helps!”
Lyndsay’s not kidding. The vessel has two Mercury outboards - 4.6 litre four stroke V8s boosted by exclusive Mercury Racing superchargers to produce a whopping 450 horsepower each:
“It’s got limousine comfort and sports car performance.”
This vessel was sold by Ancasta in Europe to meet the exact requirements of its superyacht owner. It features custom all salt helm seats, and custom upholstery to match the mothership and the rest of the tender fleet. Mercury joystick, Skyhook and auto pilot makes it an absolute pleasure to drive.
This isn’t our first time shipping a Protector overseas. In fact, as the years have gone on Protector has gained huge popularity with boaters globally.
Lyndsay says that they’re in all corners of the world:
“We’ve sold to Finland, Sweden, the Norwegian Police, the UK, Netherlands, the Mediterranean, Spain, the Pacific Islands. The yachting fraternity has really taken to them, they race intercountry and move around with them.”
“And because Protectors are everywhere we’ve had so many customers say they used a friend’s Protector then had to buy one. There’s nothing like them.”
Lyndsay explains the reason for the vessel's popularity is simple. They do what people need them to do:
“It’s their reputation and their capability. People know that they can do everything. These are luxurious vessels but you don’t have to be precious with them. They’re built tough to get the job done.”
