Rayglass attended the Sydney Boat Show for the first time in August 2024 and we had a fantastic reaction to the next, all new 3000. One boaty was particularly keen on the vessel - and after an extensive tour and a good chat with the Rayglass team, Jason became the first Rayglass 3000 owner in Australia. Jason reckons it was love at first sight:

“I’d seen photos online but as soon as we saw it in person, felt it, touched it, and jumped on board, we knew it had to be the boat.”

We recently delivered the vessel to Sydney where Jason and his son drove it up the coast home to beautiful Port Stephens.

Introducing Miracle Monk - Rayglass 3000

Straight after the trip it started to sink in that this was his boat and Jason was over the moon:

“I’m overwhelmed by the purchase and the upgrade of the trailer boat to something this size. She handled herself well, I’m impressed and glad we made the choice.1.8 metre swell, she just chewed that up, comfortable as the whole way. We travelled for hours and we didn’t even get a drop of water on the windscreen!”

Jason and his family plan to spend their time in the 3000 doing plenty of fishing and they reckon the 3000 is absolutely perfect for that. They’re also planning to cruise around and explore the bits of Port Stephens they couldn’t access before they had such a capable boat.

Bonitos on the first day out

To show Jason around the vessel Matthew took Jason and his son out for a day of fishing, starting bright and early at 5am. By the afternoon they had a few bonitos on board and Jason was ecstatic:

“The fact you can launch and just get out there … you’re not thinking twice about what you can and can’t handle, you know the boat’s going to handle it,” Jason said.

The vessel featured an advanced Simrad electronics package, including a 19 inch screen, cruise control and a 3-in-1 transducer with active imaging, a 1kW unit and 3D scanning. It's perfect for shallower grounds around Port Stephens and offshore stuff:

“The Simrad dash is just so integrated. You just touch and swap your screens over. You want to cruise, you just set up your cruise screen, you want to go fishing, there’s another screen … it’s so easy to use, it’s there at your fingertips.”

Power, comfort and capability

When Jason optioned his Rayglass 3000 he wasn’t mucking around, and went for the highest horsepower option - twin Mercury Verado 300 hp V8s. These beauties have joystick integration, skyhook GPS anchor functionality and active trim:

“You gotta experience it to understand what you’re getting … it gets you there, gets you back, it handles well, the trimming system is doing its magic in the background … This really lets you enjoy your day on the water.”

Jason says seeing his son handle the boat in big swells was a big moment for him:

“Alexander was driving there for a couple hours. I see him with a lot of confidence because the boat allowed him to be confident.”

“When you’re out boating and you see a young feller who can handle a boat in 1.8 metre swells doing 25-30 knots .. you’re comfortable in it. In a lot of other boats you’d be thrown around, you’d be holding on with two hands and you’d be stiff as.”

The tech in the motors also made fishing easier for the boys, especially the sky hook:

“No anchors, it’s just so much easier. You can get fish on the boat so much quicker.”

After four or five hours reeling in fish Jason found that his new vessel was the ideal place to kick back and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of Port Stephens with a little fresh sashimi:

“You can park up, set up a table up and chill. You don’t just have to come back and put her back on the trailer and worry about washing it. You can enjoy the rest of the day then do all that.”

Jason’s been looking for a boat for a while and says after a couple days onboard he feels sure about the 3000:

“It’s taken a long time but I think we’ve finally found the right one and after driving up here today I think I would have regretted buying anything else.”
